Free to Be – No Labels Here

via Daily Prompt: Label

FreeToBe-Label (2)

Don’t label me innocent when you see the clean hands
I’ve committed this crime
one too many times.
So your body and face I already scanned
A label slapped on your forehead yet it’s so sublime
Find a way to climb
to climb your way out of the judgment band
Don’t label me guilty when you see the dirty hands
there’s always more than meets the eye
don’t be fooled be their smile it’s all a lie
Long ago, all judgment I canned
So you’d be wise to look again without the cause to beautify
Humbly I stand and testify
Drop the labels and your mind will expand

.::.We are tempted to label everyone and anyone our eyes see. It is human nature. I have learned everything is rarely as it seems. Often times, we see what we want to see and hear what we want to hear. Labeling is a form of judgment. We judge people based on their skin, hair, clothes, walk, speech, smile, eyes, photos, stance, or anything about someone, we judge Judgment is not ours though. Who are we that we get to judge the life of someone else, are we all not equal; are we all not born, then live, and eventually die, can anyone escape the grave? Is there any person on this planet that is perfect that has nothing to be judged for?.::.

Luke 6:37 warns us, “Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven” (New Living Translation).

Furthermore, Matthew 7:2 explains, “For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged” (New Living Translation).

.::.The minute we label someone, is the minute we stop exploring who that person truly is and we narrow our minds ever more. The second we label a situation,  is the second we stop enjoying and learning from that situation. Every person and every situation has the vast ability to teach us something new, if only we stop ourselves from slapping a label on it and calling it what we believe it to be.::.

.::.Treat others how you want to be treated brings on a whole new meaning. I am a strong believer that everyone gets what they deserve – both good and bad. Maybe not immediately, but sooner or later, everyone gets dosed with their own medicine. I once lived in a world where all I did was cast judgment on every person I met. I would label him as this and her as that, but in the end, all I had was a handful of labels and a heart full of hatred. It took some time to break free from that bitter mindset of labeling everyone and everything, but let me tell you something, it is the most freeing feeling to meet people and approach situations with an open mind and enjoy the presence. We need to stop acting like God and casting judgment and pasting labels, life will only get better from there!.::.

***I love technology. But we cannot take everything for face value. We live in a deceitful, fraudulent world. I am an optimist, but I also live in truth. We cannot label someone based on a social media picture. We must never compare our lives to the lives of people we do not truly know in depth***

Stay true my friends, until next time!
